My Story
I’m not much of a planner, if you know me, it’s often unlikely for me to have a plan for dinner much less a 5-year plan. I often make decisions as the Lord opens doors and sometimes as He closes them. Over my years as a student, an athlete, a daughter, a sister and now a wife, I have seen how even in my go-with-the flow personality, I was suffering under the weight of performance, control, and outcomes. I worked hard to cover inadequacy’s or faults I believed I possessed, exhausting myself along the way. It was when I learned how to relate to myself in a more loving way and see myself as Christ does that I found freedom. I decided to pursue a career in Clinical Counseling a few years ago when the opportunity arose. It just made sense, in the simplest of words. My story is marked with nudges from the Lord, calling me to be a space for the weary and the burdened, two attributes that I, myself have known well.
I believe healing happens when we get in touch with our stories. It happens when we begin to understand and relate to ourselves in a more compassionate way. It happens when we connect with ourselves and to the Lord in the specific ways, He has created us to, through creation and through relationship. The art of counseling is such an honor because we are professional witnessers, as I like to call it. We witness well the stories of others, etched with deep scars and rough patches, of joyous moments and laughter too. We walk alongside others as we imperfectly journey too. No matter who is reading this, I believe there is hope for you.
